Berend van den Brand is a self-taught, freelance fashion photographer now working from his studio in Culemborg, the Netherlands.

His path started sideways: a bachelor's degree in Dance (Musical Theatre) in Tilburg, followed by moving to New York, where fashion and image-making took hold of him. That reignited a spark that had actually been lit earlier, back in 2013, during a stint at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, where he first discovered a love for photography.

For years, Berend explored this obsession through elaborate self-portraiture, sewing his own outfits, doing his own makeup, styling wigs, and building sets by hand, all inspired by the editorial work he admired. At that time, it was all about creative direction: learning to build a full vision from nothing and see it through.

That instinct eventually pulled him toward studio photography. In Sydney, Australia, he trained under working photographers, starting as an assistant at The Photo Studio Australia before being hired on full-time as a fashion photographer. After several years shooting professionally, he returned home to the Netherlands, where he now works from his studio in Culemborg. Here, he brings that same instinct for image and story to fashion clients across the Netherlands and beyond.
